Harriette Chandler (D — 1st Worcester)
Harriette Chandler, the first woman from Worcester to be elected to the Massachusetts State Senate, has served as Senator of the 1st Worcester District since 2000, and is currently the Senate Majority Leader and Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Housing. She has also served as the Assistant Majority Whip, is a member of the Joint Committee on Rules, Joint Committee on Housing, and the Senate Committee on Ethics. Sen. Chandler is proud to have voted to protect same-sex marriage in Massachusetts and in favor of anti-bullying legislation. She has continued her strong record of advocacy for the LGBTQ community with an amendment to increase funding for unaccompanied homeless youth (a large percentage of whom are LGBTQ) and her support of the Transgender Anti-Discrimination bill.
